This book can be read as a stand alone, but I will warn you that if you have not read Brooke’s story then you will have many spoilers in this book.  If you have read Brooke’s story then you already know who Cassidy and Blake are.  This is one of those books that you will not want to put down and be upset when life gets in the way of reading about Cassidy and Blake.  
Both Cassidy and Blake have had heartbreak in their past.  We get to learn about this as the author tells the story in both their points of view and flawlessly goes from past to present.  My wish was that we would of had a little more on Cassidy’s past to help understand her fears a little more and it is part of why I’m not able to give it the five star rating this book should have.  Yes, the book is an emotional read with a few twists that unfortunately for this reader I saw coming and was not shocked, but many might be.  I was also feeling that there were times, events or things happening faster than what you would expect considering the tragedy that has happen in Blake’s life and then we have times that it was as if things were moving slower than expected.  While you were on an emotional ride with some tears and great laughs, especially with the children’s comments, this is still a lighthearted easy read.

For the last decade, she has worked as a journalist for several community newspapers in Michigan's Thumb region. She enjoys all things '80s and '90s pop culture: movies, boy bands, music and especially the color, hot pink. She also strictly lives by the motto, "Life is better in flip flops," and is a diehard Detroit Tigers fan.
