If you didn’t read the first book, you may find a few spoilers from this review, but I will do my best to keep the current book spoiler free. Keen is a Fae. Reece is not. The two can never be together because according to the Fae, humans are inferior. How can he just go against what he has been taught? How could he not, when he finds himself drawn to her? Reece can’t stand Keen. Is it because of how he treats her or does it have to do more with what she doesn’t want to admit?
While it is a part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone. The early history of Keen and Reece is found in the first book which adds depth to their relationship and the Fae's beliefs. The author basically picks up where the first book ended with Reece's kidnapping making up for the first book's cliffhanger. Originally it was implied that Reece being kidnapped was to distract Elena from making the cure to save all Fae, but there is so much more involved. Keen is fated to rescue her, so they are now forced together in an attempt to survive. Will they be able to work together? Will Reece learn to trust this arrogant Fae? Keen does what he needs to do to protect her, well accept acknowledging their connection until he is faced with a decision that could cause him to lose Reece forever. Such a wonderful journey into finding love in the midst of danger. Heightened by the fate of all the Fae's only added to the suspense of this story.
