I think the biggest difference for me between this book and the last was that I really liked the female lead, Sandra. Though strong on many levels, she was imperfect (and knew it). Over the course of the story, she grew and changed. It made an impact on my enjoyment level to easily empathize with her.

Nick, our undercover cop, was a fantastic male lead. Alpha to his core and a protector by nature, he was flawed and had some issues to overcome. He does that and then some. With some great supporting characters, like Gus and David, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Characters, as I've always said, are the biggest reason why I love or hate a book, and these were well-drawn. So much that I think the story could be moved to any appropriately suburban/urban location and would probably work just fine.

My actual rating on this is probably 4.5 rather than 5, but I'm rounding up this time, because anything I didn't love failed to detract from the bits I did. Looking forward to Jason's story next!

I received this in exchange for an honest review. This review also appears on Goodreads and Amazon.
